What are your hours?
We are open Monday through Friday, 6am- 6:30pm, 12 months a year.
What ages do you accept?
We accept children 6 weeks to pre-K, and all elementary school age for before and after school care.
Do you use an educational curriculum?
Yes, we use an outstanding curriculum designed to prepare your child for kindergarten and beyond.
What holidays do you close for?

What is your teacher-to-child ratio?
6 weeks to 16 months – 1:4
16 – 24 months- 1:5
2 years – 1:8
3 years to 5 years – 1:10
6 years to 12 years – 1:20
Do you provide snacks or meals?
We provide a morning snack for our two, three, and four year old preschoolers, and an afternoon snack for our two year old through school-age children. We ask that parents provide daily lunches. We have warming capabilities for infants and toddlers. We require preschool through school age to bring lunches which do not need to be warmed or refrigerated.
Do you have nap times?
All children from toddlers through Pre-K4 have a scheduled nap period each day. In our infant room, babies sleep as needed.
Are your teachers CPR and First Aid certified?
Each of our staff receives their CPR and First Aid certification. We also have a staff member on site that is MAT trained and able to administer medication to children.
Are background checks completed on all staff members?
Yes, all LLCC staff are background-checked and fingerprinted through the Virginia Department of Social Services as well as the Virginia State Police Central Registry.
What qualifications do your lead preschool teachers have?
Our lead preschool teachers have or are working towards credentials or a degree in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education. We offer regular training to all our staff.
Do the children go on field trips?
School age students go on field trips during spring break and also as a part of the summer program.
What kind of daily communication do you provide?
Every child, infant through Pre-K4, receives a LineLeader Report that details the events of their day. You can easily track daily notes in the LineLeader App.
What if someone other than my spouse/partner or me has to pick up my child?
ALL persons picking up a child should be added to LineLeader. We will check the person’s ID to compare it to the list when they arrive to pick up your child. Children will ONLY be released to authorized persons on LineLeader.
What security measures are in place to protect my child?
Doors are secured and access is provided through unique PIN codes. Only visitors approved by the office may enter the building. In addition, we have over 21 security cameras in use around the property. Only the people you authorize and list with us on LineLeader may pick up your child.
What is your inclement weather policy?
In the event of inclement weather (snow, ice), Little Lights will make every attempt to adhere to the following actions:
- LineLeader notification will go out
- Gloucester County schools delayed- we will open at our normal time of 6am.
- Gloucester County schools closed – Little Lights will open at 8am.
- Gloucester County schools dismiss early – Little Lights will pick up the children from school and the Center will close at its regular time.
While we will make every effort to remain open for working parents, there may be times we find it necessary to close the Center or adjust the above actions. In the event that the Center needs to close, information will be available through:
